Project description:
Aim of the project „Reconstruction and adaption of Pakruojis Jewish synagogue for cultural and public needs” is to preserve and adapt wooden cultural heritage for local community needs by establishing Section of Children Literature of Pakruojis District Municipality Juozas Paukstelis Public Library. Reconstructed synagogue and expositions of Pakruojis Jews culture and history would be open for all visitors. Increased number of visitors would be positive factor for the economy; it could increase incomes of small and middle sized companies working in trading and services. The project will be implemented without partners.
It is been almost a year since restoration of Pakruojis synagogue began. The process of restoration of the building is slow and nearing completion. It is done about 90 percent of all works and should be finished till the end of January 2017. Significant amount of means was saved up during the project, and Administration of Pakruojis District Minicipality decided to restore entire decoration of the interior, according to the historical pictures. This work was not planned at the beginning because of limited application budget. Restoration of the interior decoration should begin in January 2017 and finish till the end of April 2017.
Most of the project activities were implemented as planned, including conference, theoretical and practical training.
